Commodity Manager IT and Business Services

Mediq is on its journey to further strengthen its Procurement activities under the leadership of the recently appointed CPO. The ambition is to create a strategic procurement team that leverages the scale of Mediq, drives high impact to the bottom line and enables new revenue streams via innovation and commercial partnerships. What is your role?

The commodity manager aligns the supply base with the short-, mid- and long term business needs. Develops and aligns a commodity strategy and builds a capable supply base to deliver on it. He/she performs external benchmarks, and mobilizes the organization for change. Drives a cost productivity- and innovation roadmap for his/her commodity and secures results land in the P&L of Mediq. Accountable for Total Cost of Ownership including material costs, long term assurance of supply, supplier performance and selection/awarding to new suppliers. And the contracting of commercial partners in e-Business.

You will manage all aspects of the procurement life cycle for IT & Telecom goods and services. You will have experience ranging from low value IT consumables, to telecoms, hardware, software, networks, security and related services.

In order to do so you will become the integrated business partner to the CIO. And will work closely together with his organization to address all Procurement needs.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy & Business Partnering

  • Be an integrated business partner to the CIO and his IT organization, understand the IT strategy and understand its priorities.
  • Develop and align a commodity strategy and build a capable supply base to deliver on it.

Sourcing & Contracting

  • Align short-, mid- and long term sourcing needs, develops an effective sourcing strategy and drives an implementation roadmap to deliver on objectives set.
  • Mobilize your “demand” team
  • Scout capable suppliers and assess value and strategic fit to Mediq
  • Analyse data, review and present findings and potential opportunities
  • Execute tenders following a structured fact based process
  • Award business based on objective, pre-aligned criteria and scoring matrix
  • Contract supplier and address supply-, data privacy and compliance risks
  • Facilitate implementation of the supplier in the Mediq business

Supplier Account Management

  • Lead of all commercial supplier communication
  • Gather feedback on supplier performance
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with key suppliers
  • Drive compliance in accordance to legislation and Mediq policy
  • Manage supply risk and escalations


  • Own the cost productivity roadmap for the applicable commodities and secure P&L impact in line with target
  • Manage a funnel of cost productivity initiatives
  • Consolidate supply base
  • Optimize Payment terms (working capital)
  • Contract compliance

Change Leadership

  • Assesses the internal organization against external benchmarks, brings best in class suppliers to the organization and mobilizes the organization for change.
  • Organize Innovation Events, DfX-conventions and Kaizen Events to identify improvement potential and create buy-in for better ways

What is your background?

Technical Skills

  • Experienced Procurement professional, with a strong IT Procurement background
  • A sound understanding and use of best practice within the IT and telecoms category
  • Detailed knowledge of the full procurement process and be able to adapt this process to pragmatically deliver challenging savings targets
  • Successful track record of leading complex negotiations and contracting
